Dr. Marie Maynard Daly, the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Chemistry, was honored with an ACS National Historic Chemical Landmark at her alma mater, Columbia University, on May 19, 2023.
The Dr. Marie M. Daly Award's purpose is to honor outstanding active professionals in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering who are high achievers in research careers in academic, industrial, or government settings and who have a demonstrated record of successfully mentoring and supporting individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in the chemical sciences. Nominees need to be active professionals in the United States or the United States Territories who are members of the American Chemical Society in good standing.
